Volodymyr Fedorovych Sydoruk (1925-1997) is a Ukrainian artist, theatrical painter and graphic designer, whose works were being made during 1939-1997 years. He lived a long, tireless life full of creativity, constantly worked, traveled and left behind a huge artistic heritage. The most important feature of his personality is his love for art, sincerity, unusual ideas and their implementation and some subconscious desire to be a real artist.

The main directions of the artist’s creative work were the motifs of nature and architectural monuments, which he painted during his numerous trips. His works present the coastline of the Crimea and the Caucasus, the landscapes of Naddniprianschyna, the motifs of Kyiv and Pochaiv. The favorite Carpathians are reflected the mostly often. Almost every year, Volodymyr Sydoruk went to the mountains, painted them in different seasons.

The typical feature of the master’s creative method is that he always painted his landscape compositions from nature, without breaks, no matter how big they were. Sydoruk preferred mostly big formats of works. And he painted them quickly, what often surprised.

Volodymyr Sydoruk always treated model with trust and respect, always looked for inspiration and bright images in it, he always looked for motives in which feelings generously pulsated, and expressed it with the help of decoratively rich and at the same time refined painting. And he felt a strong attraction to the monumental, heroic, what was reflected in his landscapes with the constant appeal to epic panoramas. He loved to paint the flowers of Kyiv region either simply in the ground or collected in bouquets, he loved the Irpin nature and found the right way to reflect it. He was also impressed by the charm of the forest shadows of Koncha Zaspa.

And perhaps through the prism of the perception of native nature, he felt with particular sharpness the exotic uniqueness of nature and of architectural historical monuments of other countries, including Armenia, the images of which occupies a significant place in his work.

Volodymyr Sydoruk also applied to the portrait and still life, made graphic works, developed sketches for monuments to historical heroes and events. Here, as always, a patriotic theme is heard expressively, a high emotional tension, epic monumentality, heroic images are felt.

He was attracted by the legendary events of the Kyiv Rus period, the long victorious fight led by Bogdan Hmelnytsky and the suffering life of Taras Shevchenko, in which he glorified the greatness of the human spirit.

Ukrainian art has an interesting master with a bright national face and extraordinary talent. His creative work is worth of attention and respect, it is a significant page in the history of Ukrainian arts of XX century
